Dylan's Story

Dylan is an 8 year old boy, who has been through 81 surgeries since his birth.
He was born several months premature & had an IV infiltrate that caused cellulitis which spread throughout his body turning to MRSA (staph) and two brain bleeds before moving to bone infection. This destroyed his right leg from hip to knee & left shoulder joint completely.
He has become immune deficient and gets sick quickly, having massive infections. His lungs are week & scarred, he is epileptic & struggles with seizures on an ongoing basis. In November 2016 he ended up in ICU in a non-responsive state with altered mental status. He has not fully recovered mentally. He has been in a wheelchair for 15 months and is scheduled for another major leg surgery. He has attended less than 25 days of school this year & has not been cleared to return for medical purposes.
While Dylan has been through many trials & hardships, he has not let any of these deter his happiness & love for life. He has learned to overcome & he strives to bring joy & happiness to others. In spite of all this, he has a smile that will light up a room & he never complains.
