Tawn Mastrey : The Life and Legacy of the Leather Nun
International radio dJ legend known for decades, became a victim of Hepatitis C (HCV), which took her early in life devastating her family and millions of radio fans. She was a pioneer for women in the Radio industry.
My elder sister Tawn began filming herself diagnosed and living with Hepatitis C. She would have wanted her story told to help others. The experience has been painstakingly emotional for me personally but also healing for all involved. I've spent 7 years piecing together this important documentary gathering all Tawn's video photoage, photos, interviews she herself recorded of all our favorite rock stars, her voice bits, and also I interviewed dozens of her musician friends on my shoelace budget flying back and forth to L.A & MN. Help us complete this film of this beautiful and amazing woman and for her spirit and voice to live on in the history of Rock and Metal, she touched the lives of millions and was a talented actress, extraordinary cook, loving sister, friend, daughter who gave so many musicians a chance while others turned them away. Tawn was a human activist, Vegetarian/ PETA.
Tawn was torn away from this world too early by a terrible disease. Together we can eradicate the spread of HCV and educate the world on preventing others from going through pain and suffering.
The sooner this film is finished, the faster we can help to 'Slay the a Dragon' HCV. HCV is currently a silent killer which can remain dormant in the body for decades attacking the liver and passing the virus to others unknowingly through blood to blood transferral, Blood transfusion, used needles, dirty tattoos, sharing piercings, razors, toothbrush etc,.
Why we need funding
I've carried the non profit Tawn Mastrey Foundation on
my soldiers with the help of volunteers and we have taken it as far as we can. We need funding now for the editing for all the film footage we have accumulated on various mediums and to dupicate DVD hard copies to sell along with the single 'Slay the Dragon' song for International Distribution for the cause
Proceeds
The proceeds from the completed film DVD and music will go towards more tools to spread awareness and education, and to stamp out taboos of Hepatitis C (HCV) to prevent the continued spread. A World tour is planned for 2016 with many of Tawn's Rock Star friends.
