Tarkwa Breman Girls school was established to give tuition-free education to young girls in rural Ghana, because of Grace, our Founder’s cousin and elementary school classmate. Even though she always placed first in class; Grace, also affectionately called Adom, never had a fighting chance to further her education.
With your support, we enrolled two of Adom’s daughters, and fifty-eight (58) other young girls who are now enjoying quality tuition-free education at Tarkwa Breman Girls School.
Our biggest challenge remains our lack of connection to the national electric grid. We need electricity to power our classroom fans, to pump water to our school's washrooms and to light up our dark classrooms. When our primary care facility opens, electricity will equally be crucial for our successful operations which will include urgent care, midwifery, infant and maternal care, and deliveries.
With $8,500, we will be able to connect our entire 50-acre campus to the electrical grid from the village (Our campus is a 15-minute walk from the village, Tarkwa Breman, where there is electricity).
We are already in the third week of our Spring 2017 term and our scholars are well on their way to becoming cash crop farmers, nurses, lawyers, physicians, writers, and other positive change-makers for their communities and country and to give back to their communities.
In parallel we constructed the Tarkwa Breman Community Hospital’s primary care facility. Help us raise funds to get electricity to our campus! No amount is too small.
Tarkwa Breman Community Alliance is a 501c(3) tax-exempt non-profit that runs a girls school and community hospital in Tarkwa Breman, rural Ghana. Our operations are sustained with proceeds from a cocoa plantation. Please learn more about our work :
