Tara Hughes Memorial Scholarship

In memory of our friend and fellow dancer Tara Hughes, we are offering a full weekend scholarship to I *Heart* Balboa 2018.
This scholarship is for a dancer who is especially thoughtful & kind, has gone out of their way to help someone in need, or who has made a difference in the lives of others in their community. Rather than applying for this scholarship for yourself, we are asking the community to nominate someone to receive it who embodies the qualities we all loved so much in Tara.
We will definitely be offering one full tuition scholarship this year, regardless of whether we receive any donations or not. We would love to expand this scholarship to include a small travel stipend (or to even expand it to two recipients) and to make this a yearly gesture of remembrance.
While we are not a registered non-profit organization, I *Heart* Balboa and the RVA Swing dance studio operate on a break-even basis, meaning we only try to cover our operating costs, and are just happy when we don't actively lose money. :) This means we don't always have extra money in the bank for things like this, even though we wish we did! If you'd like to donate a few dollars toward the scholarship fund, you can do so via this GoFundMe.
Any donated funds will go towards travel stipends for 2018 recipients, expanding our number of recipients for 2018, and putting money forward for future years' scholarships.
Break down of scholarship funds:
Full weekend tuition at middle price tiers: $125 x 2 recipients = $250
Travel stipend for recipient: $200 x 2 recipients = $400
Total funding goal for 2018: $650
