TARA took part in her seventh consecutive and final DVE Swimathon before heading off to university. This year she swam 1560 laps (39km) between 7pm on Friday 12 April and 7pm on 13 April 2019. This brings her "lifetime" tally over the 7 years to 9522 laps (238km).
The Swimathon is an annual fundraising event with all proceeds being shared between Berry Street , a local community charity that does amazing work supporting children and families and her club, DVE Aquatic .

Tara's Swimathon Achievements
2013 - 760 laps (19km)
2014 - 1020 laps (25.5km) and spent 11 hours in the water
2015 - 1400 laps (35km) and was in the water for a little under 12 hours - to put that in perspective, apparently the shortest route to swim across the English Channel is 33.8 km (21 miles) as the crow flies.
2016 - 1700 laps, in a little under 14 hours in the water. That's 42.5km, which is slightly more than a standard full marathon.
2017 - 2000 laps (50km) and was in the water for 15 hours.
2018 - 1082 laps (27.05km) and was in the water for a little under 8.5 hours
2019 - 1560 laps (39km) and was in the water for a little over 11 hours (and again swam the equivalent of a swim across the English Channel)
