Tanner’s Second Chance

Donation protected

My mom loves her little dog, Tanner, as much as she loves me, her daughter! She rescued Tanner 10 years ago and since then their bond has become unbreakable. She would do anything for him and on the 4th of July, she did. She took Tanner to the vet on Tuesday morning. The vet diagnosed Tanner with a clogged gland underneath his tongue and they scheduled surgery for Monday. However, by Wednesday morning, Tanner wasn’t eating or drinking, he was bleeding from his mouth and he could barely breathe. His tongue had swollen so badly overnight that surgery could no longer wait until Monday. Due to it being the 4th of July, my mom immediately drove Tanner to Carson, the closest open vet. Tanner’s clinical diagnosis was right side ranula and cellulitis on ventral tongue. Without emergency surgery, the gland could possibly burst and Tanner’s airway could become blocked. My mom had to get Tanner into surgery or it would only be a matter of time before she would lose her little dog. She was at the vet from 9am to 9pm on the fourth. Due to it being a holiday emergency, this day cost her $2,477.00. My mom is extremely prideful. She is the kind of person who will give to anyone and everyone but will never ask for help when she needs it. She loves her dog, he is her family. I would have made the same choice if I were in her situation. However, this was a huge financial burden. The good news is Tanner is now healing and will enjoy many more happy years with the best mom in the world. The bad news is, my mom is left with a very large vet bill.
