January 2017, changed my life forever. Being diagnosed with Lupus at sixteen (A disease were your immune system becomes confused and creates antibodies that attack healthy cells and organs in your body) fighting for my life was all I knew, with my faith and support of my family and friends, I always bounced back. But this time was different, I still had my faith and the support of my family and friends and the support of my Nursing colleagues was stronger than ever, but this blow literally knocked me off my feet.

January 18th, 2017, I woke up, in my hospital bed, confused and in so much pain. I didn't know what to make of what was happening to me. After that day I was  definitely in the fight of my life.  As my skin on my body melted and the pain in my hips ravaged my body, I needed all the support I could get. Being diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis of both my femoral heads (the interruption of blood supply to the bone, causing the death of the tissues and wearing down and eventually depletion of cartilages). In short, bones start to grind one bone. Could you imagine the pain almost every single day?

Being determined to return to my regular life, I'm fighting hard to get out of this wheelchair and push. I can't allow my passion to be taking away from me, being a Nurse is all I ever wanted, and this happening to me at my last lap in Nursing school, broke my heart and crushed me. But being Taniska, I'm kicking off the "you can't" and all the negativity that surrounds me on the daily. My faith has brought me this far. When the doctors wondered of my prognosis, I leaned of my faith and I'm not going to stop now.

Having Avascular Necrosis, I am in need of double hip replacement. Yes, you definitely read right! I am a thirty-six-year-old in need of a double hip replacement. Doing regular things people take for granted, I cannot do. Like walking of course or stepping into a shower  Not having any Insurance, I  cannot afford the expensive operation. The minimum cost for one hip replacement is Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000) and that's just for the operation, on one hip (Ohhhhh Weeee).

I'm humbly asking everyone to donate anything no matter how small, help me get back to my passion of being a Nurse, or just  being able to live my life, to be a motivation to others that where there's a will, there will always be a way, and to be a living example that you should  never give up.
