Tammy and Jimmy's Medical Expenses

Donation protected

Tammy was diagnosed with  Stage IV breast cancer (mets to lungs) in March of 2015.  Within a year, Jimmy was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.   This has taken a toll physically, emotionally, and financially on both of us.

Tammy has treatments every three weeks at Georgetown.  She also sees her oncologist every six weeks, has a CT scan every three months, an echocardiogram every three months, and a bone scan ever nine to twelve months.  In addition, she sees multiple specialists.

Jimmy sees his neurologist every few months.  He also sees a few specialists besides his neurologist.  As a result of the disease, he has had to  stop working.  He does receive Social Security disability, but it did cut our income by $800 per month.

There are also medical expenses not covered by insurance that add up (handicapped bars in the shower, a ramp so we can load the wheelchair in the van, for instance).  We also need to convert our bathtub to a shower, as it is incredibly difficult for either of us to step in and out of the tub.  We have done everything we can to cut expenses (including moving to a smaller house with a smaller mortgage), and continue to look for more options to do so.  It's very difficult, though.  Every little bit adds up, and helps.  We are so very appreciative of all of the assistance we have received.
