Tammy Hogan's Cancer Treatment Fund

Donation protected
In August of 2016, the mother of our three amazing children and my wife, Tammy Hogan, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma.  Although this news was devastating and the effects still linger in our day to day lives, we have received so many blessings from people near and far.  Family, friends, relatives, co-workers, students, medical professionals, and acquaintances have shown an outpouring of love and support that has changed our lives for the better.

With limited treatment options for Advanced Melanoma, finding a facility that would offer the best available care was a priority for our family.  We believe we found our treatment plan with the wonderful staff at the Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City.  So, “The Big Apple” it is!

Dr. Jeffrey Weber and his staff are on the cutting edge worldwide for the advancement in treating Melanoma. They have developed many trials working with Immunotherapy drugs designated to keep recurrence rates for Melanoma lower.  Tammy has qualified for a new trial using Ipilimumab and Nivolumab that have shown promise in improving survival and Melanoma recurrence rates.  Tammy's Stage 3 diagnosis gives her a 50/50 chance that the cancer can recur or metastasize.  We have never been the gambling type, but we believe that a 50/50 chance is worth the time away from family, loved ones, work and normal every day life as we knew it.

The funds generated by this Go Fund Me page will go towards medical and traveling expenses.  We would like to make donations to charitable organizations like the Melanoma Society and American Cancer Society. Tammy will be traveling to New York City once every four weeks for the next two years to receive treatment.

Many people have asked, "What can we do?"  We have told them to keep doing what they have been doing, which has been sending heartfelt texts, beautiful notes and cards, home cooked meals, care packages, gift cards, rides for our kids, lending an ear to listen to us worry or complain, and offering financial support.  It has made us question what we have been doing for others in times of need and has made us more aware that people need each other.

A few days in "the city that never sleeps," can be financially draining. It is difficult to ask for help, but the truth is, any little bit will help ease the burden our family has endured. We have been extremely fortunate thus far, and know that God has been watching over our family and will continue to do so. Thank you for any contribution you can make. Our family truly appreciates it!
