Ding Ding Round 2...
If you are reading this you either know me, my family, or my mom- Tami Jean Amundson. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to catch you up to speed on my mom's cancer status and inform you what her needs are and if you feel inclined to help, your donation is greatly appreciated.
Jan 2017 my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Stage 4 because it is her second time having breast cancer and it spread into her lungs causing the sack around her lungs to fill with fluid, which makes it difficult for her to engage in any sort of physical activity and have a comfortable night's sleep.
She did chemo for a number of months and the doctors instructed her she needs to do chemo every three weeks for the rest of her life. She didn't like the sounds of that, so she ventured out and pursued a more holistic approach. She discontinued her chemo after her strength was up and used alternative medicines and practices. That was good for a while... fast forward to a few months ago when her lungs started filling with fluid more rapidly and she lost 18 pounds in 7 months (she's already a rather tiny woman). She got some scans and the doc noticed the cancer has spread. She is now undergoing intense chemo treatment for the next 8 weeks, one treatment per week, then the doctor will work with her and reassess her treatment needs based on her performance and cancer levels. She will need and would love prayers sent her way!
Her first treatment was Jan. 9th, my dad's 60th birthday... woohoo! So far, her lungs aren't filling with fluid as rapidly and she has more strength post chemo, compared to her first round. Some big wins right there!
So, to bring it back to this GoFundMe...the purpose is to raise money to support her outside of her chemo and oncology treatments. All her kids are out in the real world, meaning no extra hands to help her around the house- errands, appointments, cooking, etc. My dad has stepped in and as the care taker of the family, it is difficult to manage work and taking good care of my mom. He loves my mom so much and has served her incredibly well.
The funds raised will go to help cover every day expenses for their household to take the pressure off of my mom and dad so they can focus on destroying this cancer as quickly as possible. My dad will still work, just not as much as before as he will be needed to take my mom to appointments and run errands and serve her and cook for her, etc.
Other uses of this fund:
High quality organic food, supplements, chiropractic and acupuncture care (if not covered by insurance), and other services to help repair her cells and help her body recover quickly.
The fundraise goal is $10,000, but could be more, could be less, depending on length and nature of her treatment and what her body needs.
*The main goal of this fund is to take some financial stress off of my mom and dad's shoulders and to help equip my mom with high quality organic foods and other products and services outside of her standard treatment, which will help expedite her body in healing and recovering from chemo and cancer treatments as quick as possible. Hopefully she can get back to traveling, going on walks, and playing with her grandchild and future grand children!
