We now stand to finally be caretakers together of 188 acres of beautiful natural land just two hours from Manhattan, habitat to many species and a research collective with a wide range of skills and interests.
Our site is now poised to work with cutting edge technology and methods which have only been applied in Norway or Costa Rica but which now seek to take root in North America, with our exquisite site and the extended community of changemakers and free thinkers committed already to working this year to cocreate the workzones, forestry, farming, bicycling and building.
Once upon a time (about a decade ago) a fiercely gentle old man named Bill Henry (you may know him as the Whale Rider; he stood up on nuclear submarines in 1960 saying "don't shoot!”) later found a parcel of peaceful paradise, directly off the train from New York City. With a turtle sanctuary wetland, lush fields for farming, a vast mountain forest, a bunch of barns and an 8 bedroom farmhouse... He thought: What a perfect place for folks to come spend time in nature!
He bought the land - and secured it as best he could - “For The Movement.” With his charge, he set forth a legacy for future generations to fulfill.
In the wake of Occupy Wall Street, Mr. Henry entrusted a young ancient mystic, Eco Lake, with a mission: bring together excellent people to create an off-grid wonder-world that reinvents the script, improves our imprint on the planet, and brings joy to everyone involved. And so, ARC 38 was born, and has served as a base for hundreds of activists and artists ever since, making ripples within the fabric of the Possible.
Since 2012 we declared the Paradigm to’ve already shifted, implicating all of us as parts of Creation to do our best to upgrade the Systems we use while we still can: pioneering a demonstration site of best practices for community— repurposing and fulfilling the prophecy of an awakened culture reclaiming our planet for future generations.
A little earlier in time on the seemingly "distant" land of Prince Edward Island, gathered two budding pioneers and inventors dedicated to ecological design and engineering. John Todd and Richard Nelson were committed to the notion of planetary healing and eco-tech innovation and converged to form a group of “New Alchemists" and to test and reveal the "Eco-Machine" at a site called the ARC.
Now, this New Paradigm operates strictly on synchronicity, so it’s no surprise that — fast forward to 2017 — Arc 38 would become the choice incubator site for the latest version of said Eco-Machine, which in one of its modern forms is the AgriPOD, a hydroponic and aquaponic vertical growing + energy-creating system so robust that it allows communities to go completely off grid with the guidance of local teachers like Evan Pritchard & Andrew Faust .
Calling all New Alchemists! Calling all Green Energy Pioneers, Radical Peacemakers, Imagineers, Mystical Creatures, Ancestors of the Future. The allure of an off-grid, community-values lifestyle is potent…. But now more than ever, having a lifestyle alternative in your back pocket is almost necessary. This is the power that will spark a global network of ARCs! Who wants to shepherd Arc 39!? Arc 17? Arc 4? — with Arc 38 as one key incubator and hub of operations up here in the New Fertile Crescent.
