Take Back the Workplace March

When I first decided to do this 3 weeks ago, I didn’t know anything about organizing a march. What I did know was that I didn’t want to find ourselves here in another year – just like we were last year after the Access Hollywood tapes came out – sharing our terrible stories about sexual harassment & abuse at our jobs, wondering why no one does anything. I decided that now is the time to do something.

So I created The Take Back the Workplace March, scheduled to take place in Hollywood on November 12th. We are literally "shutting down Hollywood" to send the message to the  people who commit these abuses and to those who are complicit by allowing them to do it and helping to cover it up. 

But more than that we’re marching to demand a industry wide commission to take action against sexual harassment, like the one Kathleen Kennedy called for. And recognizing that this is a problem that affects all business and industries, we are also marching to bring attention to and support the legislation against “secret settlements” that Senator Connie Leyva plans to introduce in January

In 3 weeks we’ve been fortunate enough to have some amazing organizations come on board to support: the Feminist Majority Foundation, Civican and We For She. We've solicited many in kind donations and everyone is working for free. But we still have expenses associated with producing the event that are more than any one person can take on alone. So we are asking for $1500 to cover things like sound equipment, banners and tee shirts to distinguish our volunteers. 

This event is in 2 weeks so your help now is very much appreciated! Please help us send a message to sexual predators who make it difficult for women and men to just earn a living, and help us to affect real change to stop this.
