Search and Rescue Drone Program

Search and Rescue drones save lives. Tacoma Mountain Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of the lost & injured throughout Washington State’s vast Wilderness. TMR work from Mt Adams in the South to Mt Baker in the North - including “the most dangerous mountain in the lower 48 states”,  Mt Rainier at 14,411ft. Today, we’re asking for your help.

We have identified a number of missions over the last 5 years where a SAR drone could have saved a life or prevented serious injury to a Mountain Rescuer.  Today, this technology is affordable, robust and cost effective.  Your donation today will fund a program that will directly save lives in 2019 and beyond.

Tacoma Mountain Rescue is asking for help so that we can purchase a DJI MAVIC 2 Enterprise Dual. This drone has both thermal and day capabilities and, at less than 2 lbs, is completely transportable by our mountain focused team members. This will not only increase our safety by allowing us to look at dangerous areas from afar, but will also allow us to check areas during a search that we were not able to before, thereby increasing our ability to find lost people.
