When I returned to my school after the summer break, I discovered that my classroom was undergoing asbestos abatement. The asbestos has since been cleared and new floors are in the process of being installed, so I figured this was a perfect time to ask fro help replacing my old student desks with collaborative tables!

Education experts agree on the importance of collaboration for 21st century learners. I currently have individual student desks that come with their chairs attached. Due to the small size of my classroom and the large size of my classes, the only way to arrange these desks is in rows. This makes collaboration very difficult.

I have been asking my school's administration (and they've been asking my district) for collaborative tables since  August 2017. After a year, I've decided to take matters into my own hands.

I would like to purchase eight tables with space to seat four students each (the school/district can provide chairs). Due to the limitations of my classroom, only round tables will work. I've found inexpensive round plastic tables for $62 each on Amazon. Please help me purchase these tables by August 26, so when my floors are fully installed my students will have a welcoming collaborative space in which to learn!

THANK YOU!!

(Donations beyond the goal amount will be put toward additional classroom resources.)

What a whirlwind of a week!!

Monday I taught the first day of class in the Media Center because my classroom's floors weren't quite ready. But Monday afternoon I was able to move back into my classroom. Setting up my new tables changed the whole learning space so dramatically. Former students kept dropping by all week and they were stunned by how much better the room looked and felt. Some of their comments included:

"It's such much bigger!"
"It looks so bright!"
"You can move around the room now!"
"I wish it was like this LAST year!"

My new students have been working in groups all week long. It's been great to see them breaking assignments into segments, sharing what they're learning, and collaborating on responses to questions. And YOU made this possible!

THANK YOU!!
