WHAT THE CAMPAIGN IS ABOUT
The aim of this GoFundMe campaign is to raise money for the cremation expenses of 46-year-old Cynthia Frandsen. Cindi, as her friends and family knew her, died after a five year long battle with breast cancer. She was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in August of 2012. After 4 years of treatment Cindi's inoperable disease metastasized into her bones and internal organs leaving her not only with crippling pain but also major organ failure. By June 15, Cindi's liver had swollen to the size of a watermelon and she went into liver and kidney failure. At this point she became incapable of consuming food and water. For the next 6 days of her life, Cindi's condition caused her to slip in and out consciousness while suffering excruciating pain. On June 21, her life was claimed by the disease and she died at Cottage in the Meadows Hospice facility. The intent of this campaign is to pay for Cindi's cremation, a cost that the financial burdens of her disease left unmet. Any additional funds will be  applied to other final expenses.

WHO WAS CINDI?
Cindi was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and wife. Though young, the relationships she had fostered were unparalleled as she worked tirelessly to support, love, and motivate her family and friends. Cindi was noted for having a larger than life personality; the first to help a stranger in need, but also the quickest to take a bold and firm stand when justice was lacking. She was a staunch advocate of environmentalism, human rights, animal rights, and advocacy for the poor. In the five years that she struggled with cancer, she took it upon herself to write frequent letters to government officials about issues of importance to herself as well as the community. She helped to launch and run many different campaigns focused on supporting the less fortunate, environmental causes, and others in need.

Though Cindi's early life was far from easy, her motto was always to help and support those less fortunate than herself. Regardless of whatever hardship she found herself in, she put a smile on her face, rolled up her sleeves, and helped to carry the load of others. Cindi's diligence won her the respect of many. In the 25 years that her young life permitted her to work, she prided herself on never taking a sick day. Her job, as well as the many who depended on her, were of supreme importance and she did everything in her power to see them succeed. Such was Cindi's approach with her family and friends. A fierce protector of those in need, she put herself on the line to ensure that others did not go without. That steadfast commitment to others often meant that she went without. In either case, she could not be persuaded otherwise. Sharing the burden of others, whether emotional or financial was integral to who she was as a person. Focus on community was central to how she raised her children. On family trips, they were taught humanity by watching their mother give food, water, and change to those who were homeless or without.

Though Cindi gave much to her family and friends, one thing she could not give enough of was time. Her illness stripped her of the ability to experience much that life had to offer her. She missed the opportunity to watch her young adult children grow, and mature through life. She left behind a husband who devotedly looked after her, but will ultimately never reap the rewards of a full and developing life with her at his side. She will never have grandchildren to play with. She will never be able to bare the fruit of a life that was left incomplete. Dying while so young meant that she, as well as her children, were not only ill-prepared to take on the emotional absence caused by her death but further incapable of handling the expenses associated with her death. As such, this campaign is on behalf of Cindi and its focus is to support her family in paying for her cremation, a service which is not only needed prematurely, but is impossible for the family to handle after the financial chaos of supporting her through metastatic breast cancer. Any additional funds will be applied to costs related to the funeral and purchasing a grave marker.

HOW YOU CAN HELP TODAY
This GoFundMe has been created in an attempt to defray the financial burdens of a family already in financial ruin from the exorbitant cost of cancer treatment by crowdfunding for the cremation of their beloved mother and wife. We are calling on the generosity of Cindi's extended family, friends, and strangers to help in the following ways so that her young family can focus on moving forward and healing from her premature death:

1.     Donate whatever you can. No amount is too small, and every contribution will go directly towards paying for Cindi's cremation.

2.     Share this GoFundMe campaign on all your social media https://www.gofundme.com/t9axa-moms-cremation-fund

3.     Leverage any other avenue you have to make this go viral (or send us leads/tips).

Five years ago, Cindi and her family were optimistic about growing, learning, planning their future, and spending time together. It took the devastating news of one doctor's appointment to turn that optimism upside down, and ultimately change their lives forever. It's important, and humbling to remember that this kind of thing could happen to any one of us. At any point in time Cindi's misfortune could have been your own. The misfortune and absence felt by her children and husband could be felt by you, or someone else that you love. Please consider extending support to her family as they live the misfortunate that has become their reality.
