Shoeboxes with Nursing Homes

Shoeboxes with Nursing Home Residents is The Sharing Org's premiere event for the people we serve.

The Sharing Organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which serves the spiritual needs of the residents who reside in eleven Nursing Care facilities in southeast Michigan.

Every November, The Sharing Organization partners with Samaritan’s Purse via Operation Christmas Child , an outreach program that provides shoeboxes packed with school supplies, hygiene items, and toys, as well as the Gospel, for impoverished children around the world. 

Purchasing items and packing shoeboxes with the nursing home residents is a two-fold ministry.

First, it ministers to the residents themselves who often don’t have opportunities to participate in community outreach or missions programs. They are thrilled to pack the gifts for children living in poverty!

Second, it ministers to the children who will receive the shoebox gifts—often the only Christmas gift they will receive.

100% of the money we raise will go toward buying the packing list items , filling, and shipping the shoeboxes in time for Christmas.  The funds need to be raised by the end of August so that we can take advantage of back-to-school sales and purchase all of the necessary items before we host shoebox packing parties at the nursing homes in October and deliver the shoeboxes to collection sites in November.

I love this program because I get to witness firsthand the residents’ hope and joy as they are enabled to help children who are in desperate situations.

The Shoebox program is a WIN-WIN-WIN situation, because not only do the nursing home residents WIN, the children who receive the shoeboxes WIN, and finally the people like you who contribute also WIN because you get to be a part of a simple gift that brings great joy to so many.

It is often customary for a fundraiser to offer gifts to donors and we are able, and happy, to do this as well.

For a $25 Donation I will personally send you a set of our Blank Prayer Greeting cards.  These cards are great to send to people you want to encourage with a simple hand written note.

For a $50 Donation I will send you a personalized hand signed copy of my book The Forgotten Church.  This book details the first 10 years of our ministry to the nursing care community.

For a $100 Donation I will send you the items above PLUS I will add your name a specifics to my personal prayer list which I pray through daily for one-hour.
