Located about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the epicenter of the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake is Dhading district in remote Nepal that has resulted in the loss of over 4000 lives and devastated the area.
A small group of people originally from Dhading and living in New England are on the ground now near Dhading Besi assisting the local comunity with immediate disaster relief. This district comprised mainly of small villages has been utterly demolished and thousands of people have sparse access to public facilities, food, medicines and shelter. Aftershocks are still being felt.
In addition to the massive loss of human lives and physical property in Kathmandu, many houses have collapsed, and lives lost in northwest Dhading district (approximately 60 km northwest of Kathmandu) including the villages of Jyamire, and neighboring villages Sunkhani, Pursu, Dhola, and Nigalpani. Surviving elderly people and children are in desperate need of help.
Although Kathmandu and neighboring regions may likely get some help soon through national and international humanitarian organizations, these village are remote. The damage there is not formally assessed and there are no aid providers.
To make sure these villages get immediate help, such as basic needs including, food, blankets, medicines, temporary shelter and resources to clear the dead bodies and prevention of infection and diseases we seek your help.
Thanks to the New England Hindu Temple which has set up a Benevolent fund to assist in the process, all funds raised through this will be forwarded to the team on the ground with little or no administrative expense loss.
We need your generous gift to support our relief efforts. This will help us protect vulnerable families who are desperate for this aid. Please Help !!!
