Mykie

Mykie's journey began a month ago when he was play fighting with his little brother Tyler and a lump came up on his leg; my sister did what a normal mum would do and checked the internet for signs of a broken leg. However the pain went away and Mykie carried on his holiday, came home and played footballl like a normal 11 year old. The lump never quite went away and after two weeks started to become painful during the night. My sister took him to hospital and they advised he had broken his leg and cast it from top to bottom. Tyler spent the weekend feeling bad and doing chores for his brother to make up for the kick that he thought caused the break. My sister was contacted by the hospital and told three days later to immediately return . After a week of unanswered questions the hospital told us that Mykie had a tumour in his leg and there was a possibility it could be cancerous.

A week later we received the terrible news that Mykie has Ewing's sarcoma which is a form of bone cancer in children. Mykie is currently in adenbrookes awaiting treatment to start. Mykie's treatment will involve chemotherapy and an operation and we are yet to hear if radiotherapy will also be needed.

Me and my husbands family would like to raise as much money as we can to ease the financial burden they will experience over the next year. We are starting it off this Friday with Rosie Walsh doing a 5k beach run and we plan as a family to run a marathon in one week.

A massive thank you to our little Tyler who we thought had broke his brothers leg but actually could have saved his life .
