Jen's Medical Fund

Donation protected
This fund is being set up by Mary McDonald and Deeanna Kupper.  Our dear friend, Jennifer Washle, has just been diagnosed with a recurrent Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  She is a single mother with two sons.  Her specialists, co-pays, PET scans, and chemotherapy are extremely expensive and more than she is able to afford.  To relieve some of her stress, the two of us are asking for your help.  Jen is too proud to ask for help on her own, so we are asking for her.  We have had so many people ask us how they can help and this is the best way we know how to assist her.

Her story begins here...She was diagnosed with a Stage 3, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Large B-cell in late 2010.  She went through a six month chemo regiment and was declared “in remission” in April of 2011.

Over the last several years, she was continuously watched by multiple doctors for side effects from chemotherapy and also to verify the cancer continued to stay in remission.

Late October 2014, she found a few lymph nodes of concern. Due to normal blood work and the appearance of looking healthy her doctors watched and waited until she underwent a PET scan in February, 2015. This scan showed four lymph nodes that were cause for concern. However, because of the location of these nodes, normal blood work and again an appearance of looking healthy, protocol stated to have another scan in 10-12 weeks. May 4, 2015, she had PET scan #2. This scan came back with the same four lymph nodes showing in February, along with a few new ones.

She was then sent to a surgeon to determine if he could get a viable piece of just one of these lymph nodes. He could not. There are on average of 500-700 lymph nodes in a person. Some are on the skins surface, and some are very deeply imbedded in the body. Unfortunately, the locations they wanted to remove were too deep or in a place that would be very dangerous surgery.

On September 21, 2015, she had PET scan #3. This scan came back showing the original lymph nodes in the prior scans, a few new and growth of the previous nodes.

She was then sent back to the surgeon to determine if he could get a viable piece of just one of these lymph nodes. This time he felt he could get at a few of them. Thursday, October 29th, she underwent surgery to remove parts of two lymph nodes in her stomach.  The pathology reports returned with a diagnosis of Grade 3, Non-Hodgkins Follicular Lymphoma consistent with B Cell. This cancer currently has no cure.

December 1st, Jennifer will once again need chemotherapy. These chemos regiments will be given over two days (the first day will be given over eight hours and second day will take four hours.) This regiment will be given every three weeks for the next six months.

We know that times are tough for many people these days but ask that you please consider donating to this fund, no amount is to small.

On a personal note, we know Jen to be a very strong and determined person and to have witnessed her broken has been heartbreaking.  She is a very kind, loving and giving soul.  We remain positive and shower her with love, supportive coaching and a ton of things to keep us all laughing.  But, in the deep down place we don't like to go to is the thought that this could take her from us, this thought is suffocating.  This is why we created and know this fund will allow her to get the best possible care and treatments .

"True friendship multiplies the good in life and divides its evils. Strive to have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island… to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep them is a blessing."

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully,
Mary and Dee
