Let me paint you my story. . .
When most people think of cities of creativity and dreams, Hollywood and New York come to mind, but for me, London is that city. The immense impact that I got from playing at the New Year’s Parade with the marching band in London expanded my horizons to study abroad at the University of Oxford.
This appears to a perfect time for the confluence of four points: my education, my interests and life goals, this great opportunity, and this historical moment. I’m very optimistic about the future that holds for the United States. We are truly living in a historical time because we are seeing a unique and unprecedented presidential election. The candidates running for president are Bernie Sanders, the revolutionary candidate who wants to change the system in the U.S.; Donald Trump, the right-wing, anti-establishment candidate; and Hillary Clinton, the first female likely to become president. As an honor student at Arizona Western College, I have the privilege to do an Honors Capstone Project in the subject in which I am most interested, Politics and International Relations. By going to the University of Oxford, I intend to pursue my research by comparing and contrasting the U.S. system with those of England and Europe.
This grand opportunity will help me prepare to transfer to a university after I finish my associate degrees in Political Science and Honors Liberal Arts here at Arizona Western College. I’m plan to apply to high ranking universities and get my bachelor degree in economics and pre-law. Currently, I am studying the LSAT in order to take the admission test this year and remaining years of my undergraduate studies to get the highest score possible to get into my dream school for law. Aside from going into law school, I want to get a master degree in economics and business from University of Pennsylvania. From there, I want to obtain a doctorate or Ph.D.
In the long run with all my future degrees and experiences that I hope to gain as a college student, my dream is to become a professional politician and work for the White House or Congress. Not only do I want to go into those places but also I want to be part of the United Nations, to become an activist, and maybe work for Emma Watson’s campaign “Heforshe” in the future.
