Prayers for Silas

Silas's mother Molly: "This difficult journey began two weeks ago when Silas started randomly having brown spots in his spit up. We kept an eye on it because he was acting perfectly normal at the time. On Saturday (9/30/17) he had some projectile vomiting, only once. Again...acted perfectly normal afterwards. His doctor wanted to see him the following Monday. At his appointment she immediately noticed he had a hard distended tummy and sent us for an X-ray. The X-ray was abnormal, but they could not tell why. We then went straight to ultrasound and discovered that Silas had an enlarged liver and spleen. The doctor hadn't seen that before and wanted us directly admitted to St. Francis Children's hospital in Tulsa for a full work-up. When we arrived they drew labs that night and all were normal except elevated liver enzymes (which only tells us the liver has inflammation). We saw the doctor the next morning and she said they would run a few tests, but he needed a pediatric gastroenterologist and we could only get that if they shipped us to OU Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City. They did a chest X-ray that day and ruled out heart or lung problems and drew more labs that showed his liver is functioning properly, but is inflamed. We came by ambulance yesterday (10/4/17) to OK City; after 4 sticks, they started an IV and drew a bunch of lab. They also did a repeat ultrasound, which showed the enlarged liver and spleen, but it also showed that the blood flow to both organs was normal. Through the night they drew more blood, again four more sticks, and again this lab didn't tell us much. Today (10/5/17), we saw the doctor and were given many different ideas as to why this could be happening. We saw a genetic specialist as well. The answer? They need to do more research on his case. As of now, we are waiting to have a liver biopsy, as this can give us a lot of information as well as eliminate a variety of conditions. We are beyond thankful that Silas has been happy throughout this ordeal, although our 6 year old at home without his mom and dad is worried and scared with all of the abrupt changes. Please keep praying."

Friends, your prayers and any donations would be appreciated more than you know. This sweet family has enough to worry about--let's try our best to alleviate monetary stress. Thank you so much for anything you can give.
