Hello! My name is Cresencia del Pino, but my friends and family call me Pookie!
A little about myself: I am currently a senior at Coral Shores High School, in the beautiful Florida Keys, and will be graduating this coming June! As far as my plans for next Fall, I will be attending Ave Maria University in Naples, FL, with a scholarship to play softball-- Something I have worked very hard for, and could not be more grateful to have the opportunity to do!
Anyways, that's a whole lifetime away! More currently, however, are my plans for my last summer before my next step in the grand scheme of becoming an adult. I'd like to say I had some big inspiration for the decision, but to be quite blunt, I'm more than positive it hit me in the middle of watching some show on Netflix, in my room, with a bowl of cereal in my hands, procrastinating against some homework that was surely due the next day-- "I want to travel to Thailand!"
At first it was simply some crazy unfathomable idea. You know the type, the ones that come up in conversation at a fun dinner on a Saturday night with friends. Who doesn't want to travel, right? But it soon took shape into a reality that could actually happen! Why not? What's stopping me? Something to reward myself for the years of academic and athletic dedication. And thus, the decision was made.
My plan is to backpack around Thailand for three weeks, through June and July. Starting in Bangkok, and making my way around, from the anthropological cities of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, to Chang Mai, I hope to learn about a culture and people that I have never before been exposed to. I have organized it all by myself, and have been working, and saving up as much as possible, but senior year has its expenses! This money will unlimately help me support myself when I am am over there (hostels, food, etc).
This is a trip that I hope will give me a broader perspective on the world, a change from the small-town mindset of the Florida Keys. I couldn't be more excited! The smallest of donations will be incredibly apprecitated!
