My 27th Birthday Goes to Aleppo

$3,954 of $3,300 goal

Raised by 42 people in 43 months
As a child I remember going through my parents' wedding photos wondering why they had pledged thier wedding festivities to raise funds for charity, for AGBU. Next week I am turning 27 and for the second year in a row I am pledging my Birthday for urgent humanitarian need in Syria. Thank you mom and dad, now I understand why.

I grew up in a peaceful community in Aleppo where organizations like the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) sustained a healthy community lifestyle  made possible through a vast body of devoted donors and volunteers. Today Syria is in war and AGBU has once again turned to its initial mission statement of 1906 to provide desperately needed aid to those in need.

Since the outbreak of Syria's Civil War, AGBU's Syria Relief Fund has been providing a lifeline to thousands of families through the support of global donors and the help of over one hundred volunteers in Syria. Most of these volunteers are friends I grew up with, went to school with or served the community with as part of AGBU's Scouts movement and student association. These brave men and women who stayed back in Syria have been putting their lives in danger every day to make sure aid reaches those who need it most.

Dear family and friends, for my 27th birthday I ask you to give me the gift of contributing to the humanitarian work my friends are doing in Syria. Please help me raise $3000 in support of AGBU's Syria Relief Fund.

Please visit http://agbu.org/syriarelief/ or contact me for further details.

NOTE: Friends in Lebanon and other countries where Gofundme is not supported: I am kindly asking you to go straight to AGBUs Urgent Appeal page < https://donate.agbu.org/agbu-urgent-appeal> and add "Anna's 27th Birthday" in the comments section. I promise that in less than 24 hours I will add your contribution to the Gofundme platform. Please mention "anonymous" in the comments section if you want you contribution to be anonymous.

WE SAY THANK YOU!!

Dear amazing friends,

Thank you for your recent donation of $3697 (after GoFundMe fees) to the AGBU Humanitarian Emergency Relief Fund for Syrian Armenians. Myself and the AGBU family are truly grateful for the compassion that you have demonstrated in response to the plight of the Armenian community in Syria. Thank you!

As you know, March 2015 marked the beginning of the 5th year of the Syrian conflict. With more than 220,000 deaths and 11 million people forced from their homes, this devastating conflict has brought on the worst humanitarian crisis of our era. Thankfully, through the generosity of you guys and the tireless efforts of AGBU volunteers, AGBU has been able to provide consistent emergency relief to thousands of Syrian Armenian families.

Every dollar of every donation is directed to the people who need our help the most and with the commitment of supporters like you, AGBU is:

· Administering emergency aid to over 3,000 families;
· Providing food, safe drinking water, baby formula, and butane gas for cooking;
· Converting AGBU facilities into emergency shelters;
· Offering scholarships to students now studying at universities in Armenia and elementary schools in Lebanon and Canada;
· Setting up medical services in Syria and funding medical treatments and emergency surgeries;
· Providing free medical clinics in Armenia and other relocation support.

Thank you for helping provide relief to those in critical need. You guys rock. See you next year :))
