My name is A.J. Jones. I am a graduate student at DeSales University, in Center Valley, PA, where I am studying to become a physician assistant (PA). In April 2016, I am embarking to Arusha, Tanzania (pronounced Tan-ZAHN-yah by the natives). I will spend 6 weeks amongst a culture so very different from my own. There, I will be staying at the Lumen Christi, an order of St. Francis DeSales, and traveling to a local hospital, where I hope to learn a great deal about the people of Tanzania, global medicine, and, hopefully, myself along the way. This will be a challenging experience and one that I am whole-heartedly embracing as an opportunity to serve others in a new capacity and find a little time for personal growth as a future medical professional.
I intend to use the money fundraised through this site for travel expenses, including insurance, a pre-travel health screening, and any necessary vaccinations.
In the words of St. Francis DeSales, "Be who you are and be that well." I intend to do so proudly on behalf of my school and my family.
