Thank you for visiting the Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony (SVYS) fundraising page! Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony is an organization that delivers youth orchestra education to Springfield, Illinois and surrounding areas. In addition to our five youth ensembles, SVYS provides a community orchestra (Sangamon Valley Civic Orchestra) for adult musicians. Our Board of Directors is proud to say that SVYS has made tremendous progress in the past year; the musicians are improving their technique, the ensembles are growing, and more and more opportunities are arising for fun musical performances and learning opportunities. As SVYS advances, though, we need your help accomplishing our next challenge.
Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony generated this GoFundMe account to fundraise for new percussion equipment. SVYS is a non-profit organization and the funds we raise are directed toward expenses such as concert and rehearsal venue rentals, guest soloists, summer camps, employee salaries, equipment, and financial aid/scholarship assistance. Our current percussion equipment is in disrepair and we do not have all of the items we need to perform our music. We hope to raise funds for this expense so that we can continue providing exciting opportunities for our musicians.
Why does SVYS need new percussion equipment?
Much of the equipment the percussionists use is old, broken, and often not able to be played. Our organization is currently forced to borrow equipment from another orchestra in the area. This was sufficient in the past, but as our organization grows in size and ability, we would like to offer more professional quality equipment to our musicians.
Where will additional funds go if we pass our fundraising goals?
We have prioritized the equipment we need to update our percussion section. We will move down the priority list, and if we are able to purchase all items on the list with funds to spare, we will use additional money to fund tuition scholarships for our musicians requesting financial assistance.
What percussion equipment does SVYS want to purchase?
The following is the equipment list. Unless otherwise specified, we will be working with The Music Shoppe (themusicshoppe.com) to purchase our equipment at great prices.
