Get Susan Well and Mobile

Hello, for those who don't know me I'm Suzy Smith, 39, from Colonial Beach, VA.  I'm a free lance writer and a journalist for my local weekly paper.

I am raising money to cover the costs of medical equipment that I need to help heal my left leg and help with mobility so I can continue to work!

The first piece of equipment is a Flexitouch pump which is used to help move lymphatic fluid back out of my leg and into the rest of my body. In 2008 I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma, or kidney cancer. Following my kidney removal, I developed a severe case of lymphedema in my right leg.

Due to this I am in constant pain, unable to walk more than a short distance, and my right leg is five times the size of my left.

This pump will help the problem and make it so I can move on to the next form of treatment!

On top of the cancer, I have several other health problems, the most recent being an avulsion fracture of my left heel and an achilles' tendon rupture. I am healing from that, but need a way to get around as the process to getting back to normal walking will take a year or more.

That is where the other piece of equipment comes in, an electric mobility scooter. I have found one that is the cheapest possible to suit my needs.

If I raise more than I need for both pieces of equipment, the next move is a lift for my vehicle for the EMS.
