We were together for twenty years; twenty years where we were seldom more than ten feet apart from each other. For twenty years we worked in the same office, sat on the same couch, slept in the same bed, and in the end, when Connie was dying of Stage 4 cancer, I slept on the couch next to her recliner where she was confined  -- and when Connie finally died, my face was six inches from hers as I whispered my love for her.

Now my beloved Connie is gone, and I have to restart my life. This means clearing the debt, leaving the house where we lived together, and learning how to live without the woman who made my life possible. I'm a writer, and I have to write again, because it's all I know. So I'll be finishing those long-neglected novels, and yes -- I will start blogging again. I just need the funds to make that possible.

Please help me.

Day 3: Once again, thank you all for your incredible generosity.

Was able to start work on the new blog yesterday, thanks to a new Tech Support, who took the job despite knowing what happened to the last one. :=(

The "latest" blog at kimdutoit.com should be up and running early next week.

Once again, thanks to all.

Day 2: Hmmm... not having a FB, Twit or any other such "social media" presence may be hurting me in terms of broadcasting to potential new donors.

Don't care.

The people who know me from before are more important to me than total strangers, so if any of my erstwhile Loyal Readers cares to spread the word to other LRs, please do so.

Kim, I'm so sorry to hear that your lovely bride is no longer by your side. I can't imagine your pain that you have gone through. I've always admired your writing (I still have the 2 signed books you sent to me) and if possible I would like to commission you to document my family history just as you once offered when you were running your "othersideofkim" blog.

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to do all the necessary work, the clearing, the moving . . . don't get so locked into the job that you give away things attached to treasured memories, don't keep so much that you have to do this all over again. Take your time getting back to writing. It's too easy to infuse darkness into your work, at the same time it's hard to care enough to edit and polish as you should.

Honored to help. Restarting is hard enough and demands asking for help. I surmise your bride would support you.

Thank you for the fine work you and your lady have done on this "intarwebs thing" over the years. Its a small gesture, but heartfelt. I hope it helps in your time of need.
