Surprise Corbin W/ New Recovery Room

$235 of $3,000 goal

As most of you know, Corbin is battling Crohn's disease. He has been for over 10 years. He is at Seattle Children's hospital and he is out of remission. His lower and upper intestines are fused together and there is a huge abscess and fistulas blocking the way of correcting this with surgery, safely. He now has PICC line and is being treated with very aggressive antibiotics to get the abscess and fistulas smal enough to go in safely and remove them and reconstruct his intestines. He is being given IV fluids and nourishment packs through the PICC line as well, as he is not allowed to eat or drink anything. Surgery will not happen until end of January or beginning of February. Then when he is healed, he will undergo another surgery to take biopsies of his cysts to check for cancer. Then they will continue with the nourishment packs and IV fluids for quite sometime to let his intestines heal. Our plan is to give his room a complete makeover. The reason why is because, once he returns home, it is where he will rest for the remainder of the year. We want it to be very special for him!! He has always expressed certain things he would love in his room; I.e. Built in bookshelfs, ceiling mural, fish tank, New bedding, huge area rug, as his floor is cement, and new paint. It would be so amazing if he could come home, from this horrible experience, to a room he can really love and utilize during recovery! Please. ANY amount can help, and please pass this on! Prayers are needed too. :) No matter what religion! Blessed be!

SURGERY UPDATE: His surgery did not go well as planned. He lost a lot of blood and a lot more upper and lower intestine than they hoped. They are hoping what was left holds together. He will never live a normal life. The dr said his intestines were like paper. And what is left is fully diseased. He is going to wake up to learn a lot of bad news and HOPE that he does not have to lose anymore or he may face an intestine transplant. They are keeping him a lot longer to hope it holds. They are keeping him until he heals. Then they will try different medications until he is back in remission. He may face a bone marrow transplant as a last resort. We are heartbroken for him but we are so happy he made it through. Honestly, I am in a daze. I know his depression is going to get worse. My baby boy. So much he is going through. So much my kids are going through. I have to be strong. Please pray. Please.

"Light load" - When he is able to get up and walk the unit a bit; if he feels up to it. Having a light load means his bags are almost finished and they do not pull on his PICC line.
