Bella's surgical fund
Donation protected
This fund is to help pay for my puppy’s hospital and surgical bills, which resulted from a broken back femur, dislocated hip, and damage to the hip joint following a hit-and-run accident a few days ago. Her initial hospitalization after the accident was $1500, and the surgery is estimated to be $3800-$5000. Bella is such a sweet, wonderful puppy, and has brought me more happiness than I could have ever imagined. All of this is to make sure this innocent puppy can live a normal, wonderful life without limitations and without the risk of arthritis or more surgeries.

Bella is an adorable, loving blue heeler from Conroe, Texas, born on November 29th, 2017. However, this story begins long before Bella was born, or before the accident on Saturday evening.
Last year, within a few months, our family experienced tragedy after tragedy. My paternal grandmother passed, my maternal grandfather passed, and my paternal grandfather and my father were both diagnosed with lung cancer. My father and grandfather have been fighting this disease to the best of their abilities since October. These incredible men continue to fight to this day.
I, and the family, thought it would be a good idea to get a dog. For the last 5-6 years, I’ve lived in Houston, Texas attending Baylor College of Medicine with a focus on cancer research. I found a family in Conroe, Texas that had a litter of pure blue heelers. On February 6th, I drove to Conroe, Texas to pick up this sweet little girl. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was the one. Since that day, Bella and I have been inseparable, including trips to Baltimore, MD for my dad’s 60th birthday and this more recent trip to Orlando, FL to be with my family while my dad continues to fight his disease.
On April 28th, 2018, while leaving a dog park near my parent’s home, Bella was involved in a hit-and-run accident. Bella had no internal bleeding, no damage to any organs or spine, but had a broken back left femur and a dislocated hip. Bella remained in the hospital until Monday morning when I took her to the orthopedic surgeon.
Surgery was performed this morning, May 1st, 2018. The surgery was successful. Bella will be coming home tomorrow, May 2, and we will begin our recovery process. 10-14 days after surgery, the stitches can be removed from her surgical wounds, and we will start physical therapy twice per week, working towards a full recovery in 8-12 weeks.
