Surgery For Found Cat
Last week I posted about a cat that was out back of my house. No one has claimed the cat and my neighbor was kind enough to bring her in from the cold . She discovered she had issues with her mouth and after taking her to the vet she found out she has a fractured jaw in two places with exposed bone. The fracture is pushing one of her lower molars so it connects to the top tooth and she can't fully open her mouth. The vet said this type of trauma is caused by a severe fall from maybe a window or moving car. She is chipped but the information is out of date. Ultimately we want to find her a good home but in the meantime want to get her healed. We thought she was young but from the chip found out she is about 9 years old. She is such a sweet cat and just wants to be loved. I am asking if you can help with the cost of the surgery. This isn't something we were expecting but want to do what is best for her. Anything you can contribute would be appreciated.+ Read More
I wanted to send an update on Sweetheart. I apologize for not sending one after we got the results back from her surgery but was really sad that the results were she had cancer and there was nothing they could do for her. My amazing neighbors April, John and Carol took her in and did everything they could to make her time left comfortable. Thank you to everyone who contributed to help Sweetheart and especially my neighbors. Sweetheart could have died alone if she didn't come to our back yard that night and because they opened their home and hearts her last weeks filled with love and care. Thank you again.
Sweetheart is it out of surgery and there are still some possible issues they are testing her for. She will have a post op visit in 3 - 5 days to see how she is healing and if she can now close her mouth properly. Thank you again for all of your generous donations so we were able to give her a chance to get better. Keep her in your thoughts and I will update everyone with how her follow up goes. My neighbors are such wonderful people for taking her to the surgery and taking such good care of her.
Today is surgery day for Sweetheart. She had her blood work done and she has elevated kidney levels which indicates kidney deterioration/failure and there could be an increased risk of complication while under anesthesia . The Veterinarian feels the greater risk is not having the surgery and it was agreed to move forward. If everything goes well she will need to go on a diet to support her kidneys. Other levels looked OK so keep her in your thoughts that everything goes well. Thanks again for your concern and support.
Thank you everyone for your generous donations! We are so close to raising the money needed for her surgery. If we raise anything extra we will use it for her after care. Anything above what we need will be donated back to an animal organization. Thank you for sharing and spreading Sweethearts story. Right now April is giving her the medicine she needs to get ready for her surgery on Wednesday. I will update everyone with how that goes.
