Sweet Unique is one of a kind. She was taken to a shelter missing a leg, an ear, and with one very bad eye. She purred non-stop at the shelter and was ultra loving to everyone that tended to her cage. A cry for help was sent out to rescue this sweet girl. Sadly, she made it onto the "bad list" which meant her time was up. SCP volunteers went to meet her and she was nothing short of wonderful. She head-butted SCP volunteers and even gave them cheek rubs. Her purr was super loud! She was really trying to get out of the shelter! We placed her in a foster home and she is now happy and content. The problem isn't with her missing leg, missing ear, or bad eye but with her jaw. She cannot open her mouth due to some sort of trauma and she can only eat canned food by scooping it into her mouth which only opens a little bit. She is currently eating a wet food mixture high in calories since she only weighs 6 lbs. She was referred to a specialist to see if there is anything we can do to help her open her mouth. Four vets later, one thinks she can help her! She will need a CT scan ($1600) on June 14th and the vet will make a determination about what kind of surgery she needs at this time. It will likely involve removing a part of her cheek bone to allow her to open her mouth. The vet estimates the surgery will cost around $5000-$6000.
We are begging for donations to help her with this upcoming costly surgery.
