When I graduated from college, I encountered a pinch of depression. All I had worked for seemed to be in vain when the transition to a dream career did not come as quickly as I had anticipated. Instead of allowing myself to wallow to a point of no return, I started creating. I started painting to escape the passive aggressive thoughts of failure I had. So what I hadn't landed my dream job in fashion. I'm equally talented in other areas of my life. Making that decision, I allowed purpose to find me.
When I received the acceptance email for my 2nd art show I knew I could do this. I was driven by the feeling I had the moment I received, "congratulations you have been selected"..... As a beginner at anything, acceptance is the 1st step to success. I was being accepted by a community I was foreign to and it has been downright amazing! I thought how awesome would it be to make someone else feel this way. It started as a thought, then ideas on my notepad to a full fledge vision of success.
I fully understand living in purpose now and would like to introduce my non profit art organization. The key to a successful life is living in purpose. Your life's purpose generally has nothing to do with you. It's for the survival of the world, your enemy, your loved ones. With accepting purpose you accept being a vessel to deliver the greater good. Understanding that, this is where I am in life.
As a community, we must understand the power behind art. It saves lives! It saved me. Ask any artist how they got started and be prepared to see their soul. Learn their hardships because 10xs out of 9 it was something that rocked their core that lead them to create. True story, a neighbor of mine lost a multi million dollar business, hit rock bottom and had nowhere else to turn other than creating. Now he's recognized both nationally and internationally for his works of art. He didn't give up on life when it became unbearable and he's touching more lives now than he ever would. Art heals and revives. We need it desperately in the communities. We must submerge our wounds of pain, depression, oppression and despair in it. The only thing universally recognized is art.
Join me in being a vessel. Whether you're an artist or not, we ALL need art!! My mission is to remove barriers that are straining our communities. Unite us in the good fight through art. Harmoniously create.
I have many ideas to deliver my mission however I need support. We will be the home of an art gallery and creative space in St. Louis, Missouri opening January 2017. Your contribution will go towards the start up and operational costs of the creative space. This will include but not be limited to commissioned exhibits, educational classes, networking functions, etc.
It truly does take a village. Although this fund has been started for the start up costs, we need support from every angle. Please LIKE/SHARE our Facebook page. All it takes is a few moments. Come out to the events. Support. Spread the word. Whatever you can contribute to the cause.
It's going to be a road to travel but I want to thank you all for the consideration of traveling it with me
