Many of you have been touched by the kindness and love of Steve and Gail Schneider. Steve has been a coach, a teacher, a pastor, a friend, and a mentor to so many through his life. Gail's friendly smile has welcomed many of us at church, at Open Arms, in her home. Their Christian faith through good times and bad has been unwavering, especially in recent years. After so many years of being there for others, they are in a position of needing our help.
Over the last three years Steve has battled health issues and struggled to find meaningful employment. He has taken on any job he could find to provide for his family. Each time it appeared they were about to move ahead, another setback occurred. Most recently, Steve has been hospitalized with a recurring staph infection in his shoulder and now throughout his body with a blood infection. He was also found to be fighting pneumonia and is now in very serious condition. Before they can even begin to address the shoulder issues all infections will need to be cleared and Steve will need to regain much of his strength. Unfortunately, Steve can not get back to work until healing his body and having shoulder surgery so he is not living in pain.
Many of you may have known something about what Steve and Gail have dealt with these last few years, but they are private people who have tried to work their way through this on their own. They can not do that anymore, and they need our help to get through these medical costs and make sure they can stay in their home and cover normal living. No one should have to choose between critical medical treatment and putting food on their table.
When Gail sent me the picture above and told me that Steve was really no longer communicating, and that they suspect a stroke may have occurred, I knew I, and all of their friends, needed to step up and help. Please consider helping them through a donation here, words of support and encouragement, and through your fervent prayers. We are one family in Christ and we have a brother and sister in great need at this time.
