Help Put Mental Health On The Map

My name is Ryan Painter and I am a committed mental health activist, living in beautiful Victoria BC.

One of my passions is politics, and using the political process to make change happen. I am engaging in such a process next February as a delegate to the federal NDP Convention in Ottawa.

For years now we've seen mental health take a back seat when it comes to political policy and me. In fact, there wasn't much hope that any government was brave enough to take on such a challenge. This changed recently with the election of the BC NDP government in BC, and the appointment of a Minister for Mental Health and Addictions, the first province to create such a ministry.

On the federal scene, there is still much work to do. This is where I congee in, and where you can be a part of anything huge!

On November 14th 2017 the riding of Victoria passed two resolutions which were brought forward by me: one on committing to meet with mental health activists and craft metal health focused policies in advance of the 2019 ejection, as well as creating a section off our policy book addressing metal health;

AND

One supporting the principle that every worker deserves paid sick leave.

In order for these resolutions to make it to the convention floor, I need to be I Ottawa to focus organisational efforts on making this happen.

The trip isn't cheap from Victoria. Delegate fees, flight and hotel will cost upwards of $3000. I truly believe in this fight, but without support from people like you, I won't be able to get there to make change happen.
