Supporting Troy Roberts and Family

$5,050 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 30 people in 2 months
Created April 14, 2019
We are trying to raise money to support our friend Troy Roberts and his family who need help with their expenses while Troy is hospitalized and during his recovery period.

Troy went in for a routine surgery on December 3rd to treat his diverticulitis.   There were complications following surgery when his colon began to leak into his body, causing sepsis.  He required emergency surgery to clean him out, which resulted in a large wound on his abdomen.  Since then, Troy has had pneumonia, organ failures, cardiac arrests, has bled out and required transfusions, and had multiple other issues that have caused a prolonged stay in several different hospitals.  He still requires regular dialysis and wound treatments.  Although Troy is now improving, he is still expected to remain in the hospital for several more months and will spend a long time in recovery.

In the next few months, Troy will be having at least 3 more surgeries, including a skin graft over his abdomen, finally having his wound closed, and a heart surgery for a mitral valve prolapse.   He will also be undergoing physical and occupational therapies so he can relearn how to eat, walk, and get back to his old self.

This unfortunate series of events has made a substantial impact on their savings account.  Troy's wife Christi is unable to work as Troy needs constant care.  In addition to the accruing medical bills, Troy and Christi are now just trying to figure out how they are going to make ends meet.  All donations will go directly to Troy and his family to help support them in this time of need, will allow Christi to focus on Troy, and will allow Troy to set his mind on recovery!

Thanks to all who have helped raise money and spread the word about Troy! He and Christi are very thankful for everyone and your donations have helped take a giant load off of their shoulders.

Troy is set on his path to get back to his old self. He has been off of dialysis for several weeks now and has been able to start eating food again. He's been working hard on his physical therapy exercises and is working on being able to stand again. Also, there was another surgery on the 23rd, when they were able to do a skin graft over his abdomen.

Over the next few months, he'll be working on building up his muscles to get ready for his rehab. There are also still a few surgeries ahead of him, to do a final close on his abdomen and a heart surgery. After he is able to move on to a long term rehab facility, he will be focusing on learning how to walk again and getting back to his old self.

Thank you to everyone again for your continued support and letting Troy and Christi focus on what truly matters!
