Supporting the Swanner Family after the passing of their beloved daughter, Molly Swanner.

The Swanner family had freshly arrived in Germany, and after a week got plugged into "International Christian Fellowship," an international church in Oberursel, a suburb of Frankfurt. We hosted a week of Vacation Bible School, where their two daughters Molly and Charlotte attended.  Many of us got to know their Mom, Heather Swanner each day in the nursery area.  Molly was a true source of joy and light, and she captured our hearts quickly. The picture you see is a picture from one of her crew leaders at VBS, just last week, in our Jungle Cinema.

The next day after VBS, on Saturday, 30 June, Molly had a tragic accident, and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Despite the best efforts of the doctors, Molly showed no brain activity. While we grieve here on earth, we are comforted by the fact that at this time last year, Molly accepted Jesus into her heart. We do not grieve as those without hope, for we know that precious Molly is in heaven with her saviour.

We have known the Swanner family for just over a week, but they are our brothers and sisters in Christ, and our hearts are broken with the family. As her church family, we have set up this fund at the family's request. While there are many expenses which are covered through the military, government, and insurance funds, we wish to bless the family by helping them cover those expenses not covered. For example, several family members have flown over at the last minute from the USA to Germany, and this is quite an expense. With this and other financial needs, we wish to bless the family.

This link is meant not only for our church family, but for any that have known Molly and the Swanner family throughout the world. We encourage you to give generously and with an open heart. At the request of the family, we are only sharing the link, and we are not posting this info on social media.

As promised, Heather and I have been researching potential organizations to contribute towards in Molly's name. Your generosity has allowed us to consider the following organizations:

Kids Around the World:
http://www.katw.net

This is a Christ-centered non-profit organization that provides hope to children and their families by creating an environment for them to thrive. They do this through playground development ("play"), nutrition/food support ("feed"), as well as Biblically-centered education ("train").

My Stuff Bag Foundation: http://www.mystuffbags.org

This is an organization that helps provide stability, hope, and love to children during unstable and emotional times - more specifically, children impacted by foster care circumstances.

Room to Read
https://www.roomtoread.org/

This organization focuses on literacy to combat human suffering, and empower young girls to grow up with hope and confidence that, through education, they can raise and lead their families! This program also helps prevent the likelihood of girls being lured and trapped by human trafficking.

Finally, North Carolina Aquarium (Pine Knoll Shores)
http://www.ncaquariums.com/pine-knoll-shores

This was the aquarium Molly first visited, and was a place we visited many many timea throughout her life. We have been annual members for six years. It was here that she first fell in love with ocean life and wanted to become a Marine Biologist! She loved this place, and all that the NC aquarium was doing to promote healthy ecosystems and to protect the wildlife. This was a "home away from home" for her.

Heather and I have chosen these organizations based off of their credibility; fiscal/resource discipline, utilization, and transparency; and their vision, mission statements, and programs that address topics/issues that Molly would be proud to support.

Additionally, all of these organizations promote HOPE - a theme that is central, and will remain central, to us as we continue to process, accept, and hopefully, in time, we will be able to celebrate the good that God has allowed to occur in and through our lives.

Furthermore, we HOPE that our transparency throughout this process has been, and will be, an encouragement to each of you as we shift our eyes upon others that may be blessed in a similar manner that you all have afford our family.

Finally, we leave you with this...Molly's greatest joy was sharing love, joy, and hope with others. We cannot thank you all enough for giving us the opportunity to share in these attributes you during this time, and for enabling us to "pay it forward" in her name!

We love you all.

Love,
The Swanners

Heather and I want to thank everyone for their overwhelming love and support - emotionally, physically, spiritually, and financially. This is without a doubt the most difficult and challenging event of our lives; however, because of our gracious God, and all of you, we have been able to find moments of peace and joy in the midst of this unexpected storm.

This past week we were able to "bring Molly home." We had a memorial with family and friends in South Carolina on Friday, and on Saturday we celebrated her life in a way that would have made Molly proud! We share this with all of you because it has been through your support that we have been able to cover every cost for both events. We cannot express how grateful we are for your generous hearts. Your sacrificial giving has enabled us to exceed all expectations and their associated costs.

That said, with your permission, Heather and I are prayerfully considering a way that we can bless children and communities through a donation in Molly's name. With all memorial and celebration costs covered, we do not feel it would be appropriate to "keep" your blessings for our financial gain. We believe that each of you have given generously so that you could lift an unexpected burden off of our shoulders, allowing us to focus on caring for and giving Molly the attention and dignity she deserves - we want to honor that.

If any of you who have blessed us financially do not agree with this plan, please let us know and we will apply/use your gift as you request, or return your donation, if requested. Please know that we are being transparent regarding this matter because we respect each of you. We believe that being faithful stewarts to the blessings received (and the intent for which they were given) is the best way we can honor your gifts. Please feel free to contact us at dhswanner1@gmail.com if you would like to discuss our current plans. We assure you that we will honor you with discretion.

Finally, and again if you agree, Heather and I will provide another update once we have selected an organization(s) so you can follow your generosity.

Thank you for your love and support. You have blessed us, and honored Molly!

All our love,
The Swanners

P.S. With this update we plan to close this giving account by the end of this week. Thank you again!
