Supporting the Ford Family

Donation protected
I have known the Ford Family for just shy of 10 years. In those 10 years I have come to know Barb, Ashley and her husband Shaun, and Alex quite well. This family has dedicated their entire lives to helping others in need. Doing whatever it takes to help others achieve healing through their work with the horses and supporting them anyway possible. These people would give you their shirt off their back if they saw you needed it. Its been a true honor to get to be a friend to such an amazing family that works tirelessly for others. The saying goes "Lose yourself in the service of others" and the Ford Family is a true example of that.

Unfortunately Barb's daughter Alex has struggled with an eating disorder since she was very young. For anyone who has met Alex, you too can attest to how beautiful Alex is inside and out. She is so intelligent, funny, and walks this earth so purely. Alex is the brightest of lights in a world of darkness. Her laugh is so contagious that you cant help but smile when you hear it and join in the laughter. Despite all of these things Alex has always battled her eating disorder in the background. Sadly, recently Alex has relapsed and is in true need of help even though this terrible disorder prevents her from recognizing it. Our loving Alex has reached the point of life and death. Barb, Ashley, Shaun, and Grandma Mimi have been working tirelessly for WEEKS to get Alex the help she needs as she is currently uninsured. Due to the severity of her relapse Alex has been unable to keep a job.
Unfortunately for those like Alex in dire need, the word "uninsured" in our health care system means VERY LIMITED help. The family has been calling up to 40 facilities a day trying desperately to find a place of healing, but due to lack of insurance most treatment  centers charge anywhere from $850- $5000 (most average $1500) a day out of pocket for treatment. As for most people, this just isn't an option.

Alex has recently been admitted to a local hospital and has many doctors, attorneys, and others at the top of their departments stepping in to help and find resources for her. Despite this, the bills will continue to add up and Alex still needs to get to a specialty treatment center. I just can't bare the thought that while Barb, Ashley, and the rest of their steadfast family fight everyday so fiercely for Alex, for them to go to bed at night and stay awake worrying about the bills. Money and finances should be the LAST thing they have to worry about. Its always a difficult place to need financial support, a near impossible burden to ask for help with. So, I am starting this campaign so that no one from the family has to worry about asking. I hope that after reading this you might consider helping me to lessen this burden for them. I know that $20,000 is a HUGE goal, but the sad truth is, should this amazingly generous amount be raised it will only scratch the surface. Regardless though, I know with no doubt in my mind it will be a massive worry off of the Ford family when they should worrying and putting energy into nothing other than their sweet Alex.
