Shakti Sharanam Yoga Shala is a small, environmentally sustainable school in rural Colorado. The Shala is dedicated to upholding traditional Yogic practices that bring us closer to our divine nature - and each other - through a concious lifestyle. These practices are now threatened worldwide, and many are being lost to commercialization.
Annie Pace, the center's founder, has spent much of the last 28 years in India, immersing herself in the yogic sciences of Ayurveda, music, cooking, and philosophy. She is and elder in the Ashtanga lineage and has the rare skill to distill decades of knowledge and experience into simple and applicable teachings for practitioners of all levels and from all walks of life. She firmly believes it is the birthright of every human being to have access to these teachings. (See www.shaktisharanam.com for more info.)
The Shala Project was carefuly created with the intention to exemplify yogic living and pass on the teachings in an intimate and authentic way. It integrates ancient yogic life principles with contemporary sustainable systems, including the utilization of solar energy and local natural building materials.
Shakti Sharanam offers on-going weekly classes by donation, as well as private instruction, yoga therapy, weekend intensives, weekly and monthly study programs. Most are offered with work-exchange and sliding scale options. Annie also provides instruction to visiting school, retreat and pilgrimage groups - often with little or no compensation. She also offers traditional instruction in the public school system.
The Shala has been open and functioning since 2007, but now SERIOUSLY needs your help as we are struggling to keep up with the overhead!

Every dollar donated will go towards: Phase 2 of the solar system restructuring (moving towards 100% sustainable OFF GRID functioning!), subsidizing tuition for those in need, providing community offerings, much needed maintenance, and defraying part of the cost incurred to create this sacred place.
