Krista and her family are coping with her very recent breast cancer diagnosis. Just over 18 months ago she and her husband Nizam welcomed their daughter Alina into their family. Krista had returned to work earlier in the year and life had finally found balance.
Just over a month ago, Krista noticed a lump on her breast and made an appointment with her doctor. After every test, biopsy and procedure her suspicions were confirmed, unfortunately she has an aggressive and invasive form of breast cancer.
No one is ever prepared for this news. As one can imagine it hit hard. As the information was processed and a treatment plan arose, Krista and her team have now focused all their energy on doing what is needed to get healthy and cancer free.
Nizam is a paramedic, he dedicates his life to helping others in need of care or in crisis. As friends, family, and colleagues we want to return the favour by helping them get through this immediate crisis of their own.
Update: Krista's plan has slightly changed...
Due to the size of the tumor she will have to undergo three months of chemotherapy to try and reduce the size of the tumor. She starts this soon and her team will re-evaluate surgical procedures depending on how successful the treatment is.
Krista is hoping to work throughout treatment but she will be unable to work full time. Hospital stays, medications/supplements, dietary needs, childcare, rent, car loans, and just day-to-day bills will add significant financial stress to the family.
Our goal with this campaign is to provide Krista with peace-of-mind around their finances. We want to allow her to be 100% focused on her treatment, recovery, and still be a great mom & wife!
