I (Damion's little sister) am asking for help for my brothers journey, one no one ever wants to go on.
Damion was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma in his pelvis. An eight inch tumor that will require part of his pelvis to be rebuilt after it is removed. It will require travel to Sloan Kettering in NY to meet the rest of the surgeons on his team and get pre-op testing, a two week inpatient stay following a 12-18 hour surgery, and a week in NY for follow up care.
Our mom, Damion, and I travelled to NY to consult with Dr. Healy at Sloan Kettering. We travelled in two cars (as we were unsure if he would be coming directly back) and gas, tolls, and parking totalled $277. I would like to raise money for whatever expenses Damion has, but would like to set a goal of $5000 to ease the financial burden of travel, food, and lodging expenses for him and family travelling to be with him.
He has a tentative surgery date of November 22, and I'd love to be able to provide him the funds by then.
Damion is a self employed welder and fabricator with two kids, Riley (14) and Liza (11). Everyone that knows my brother knows that he isn't one to ask for help, which is why it's important for me to do it for him. If you know Damion you also know that if you need something he will give you the shirt off his back.
I am eternally grateful for all of the friends and family lifting him up in this difficult time. Thank you for surrounding him with love and support.
