Support for Aaron Esteban & Family

Donation protected
Aaron Esteban Vargas turns 7 years old this month of October. We are kicking off this campaign in support of Esteban and his family to help ease some of the financial strain that his upcoming transition from the hospital to home may bring.  Mother Teresa said "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."  With great love for Esteban in our hearts, we hope to reach or surpass our goal by his birthday, October 27th.

In May of this year, after what seemed like a normal cold took a turn for the worse, Esteban was admitted to Children's Hospital with a very high fever and seizures. Over the course of the last 4 months, he has battled serious complications of an undiagnosed virus. He has undergone surgery to treat an aneurysm, had procedures to reduce inflammation in his brain, and had his blood "washed" and filtered in an attempt to remove the virus (among many other tests and procedures). His body and spirit have battled bravely through all of this.

Esteban still has inflammation in critical areas of his brain and spine but there is no new swelling. His fevers are less frequent and seizures are also. Preparations are being made to ready him for an eventual transition home. Luis, Yvette, and Lourdes will be trained on how to care for Esteban at home- especially with regard to his feeding tube and breathing tube. He was recently fitted for a wheelchair. And he undergoes physical therapy to help strengthen his muscles. He responds to the voices and love of those around him in his own special way. All of this makes us hopeful that Esteban, (with prayers, love,  and healing energies) will steadily continue on the road to recovery through rehabilitation.

Many people have asked how they might be able to support Esteban and his family. They've generously  helped with things like cooking meals, spending time with Esteban's brother, Sebastian, and offering emotional/spiritual support for Esteban's family.  We realize that Esteban's transition home and his care, when home, will mean many new expenses for the family. We want Luis and Yvette to be able to focus on caring for Esteban and for their family.  All of the funds raised through this campaign will go directly to them as they prepare for this transition. Your donations, prayers, and love for Esteban and family are greatly appreciated.
