About BGV
Black Girls Vote, Inc. is a grassroots, nonpartisan organization that seeks to uplift our community by educating and inspiring women of color to understand the public policy decisions affecting their families and communities
Mission: To engage, educate and empower women of color, especially 18-25-year old’s, to use the political process.
Vision: To improve the quality of life for women of color.
BGV’s Reach & Impact
Since our inception, Black Girls Vote registered more than 16,000 potential voters
BGV has participated or organized hundreds of events including the 2016 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, 2016 National Urban League and 2017 NAACP Conferences.
BGV Programming
Voter Registration – BGV meets voters where they are, hosting registration pop-ups on college campuses, schools, concerts, malls, sporting events, restaurants, hair salons, night clubs and more.
Voter Education – In addition to registration efforts, BGV works to cultivate a community of well-informed citizens. BGV has conducted civics education at local high schools and children centers. BGV has also taken students to Annapolis and Baltimore City Hall to witness firsthand the legislative process.
Leadership Training - Collegiate Ambassador Program allows college students to engage their student body while bringing BGV’s mission, vision and values on their campus. Program is currently comprised of 50 ambassadors, operating at college campuses in Maryland, DC and Virginia.
BGV Moving Forward
Black Girls Vote seeks to expand our leadership training, education and advocacy efforts.
BGV plans to expand our collegiate chapters to at least 10 additional college campuses in 2019. BGV also seeks funding for operational support.
