Hello Loves! Something really exciting just happened in my life...
I was accepted for a Lambda Literary fellowship!
This means in June, I get to attend a one week intensive immersion program in poetry at USC in Los Angeles, where I will be mentored by the brilliant poet, Kazim Ali.
This fellowship will also provide me access to the resources, space and time I need to finish my book and learn more about publication options.
Yall...this is a dream come true! I've been gnawing on this project for almost a decade...I feel so excited to finish & share it with you all!
I need your help with this. The fellowship costs $1650 (food & housing included), and I'm raising some addidional funds to be able to afford transportation costs & compensate for some of the time I will be missing work.
When you live in a resource-strapped community, crowd funding can be a complicated beast. There are so many important projects that need our financial support, and we're constantly having to pick and choose what causes to prioritize at any given time.
For this reason I've chosen not to take up a ton of public space with this campaign. Since this is an ask that will benefit me independently, I'm just gonna try doing this by networking with my close friends and loved ones. We'll see how far we get this way first, THEN I'll start hawking things ;)
