Mentoring Beyond Athletics has been a non profit organization since July 2017. Founded by Timothy Daniels Jr. and Brandon Johnson. Mentoring Beyond Athletics (MBA) has a history of making things happen for the community. Specializing in helping Elementary students and others build positive relationships and gaining confidence through athletics. MBA provides a workout facility, runs a Summer Football Camp every year and looks forward to providing a yearly Summer Basketball Tournament for the community. To meet the needs of the youth in our communities we will gear towards providing a permanent facility. Access to gyms, fields and new equipment will allow us to expand and reach thousands of struggling children. Doing something positive is important for the youths growth, success and humility.
Mentoring Beyond Athletics focus is on working with youth that come from families that are low-income and kids that are identified as at risk, including youth with disabilities. The focus is on grades K – 8. Defined as an early intervention projects to support youth with the development of social skills and healthy behaviors, and building healthy community connections.
In today's society, Elementary students are getting themselves into more and more serious trouble. Serious situations such as repeatedly violating school policies, stealing, fighting, experimenting drugs, unhealthy living, etc. Early Intervention is absolutely needed in many communities throughout the Twin Cities area. The need for positive role models is at an all time high. Brandon and I are Mentors that have constant communication with hundreds of students daily. This is a yearly task that we are proud to do because these kids have options and no longer have to stay in bad situation after bad situation. They know they can count on us!
We have an open line of communication and are able to relate to many students regardless of their background. We intend to keep pulling kids out of bad environments while giving other deserving ones great opportunities to do something special. We understand the importance of positive outlets such as: After school programs, sports camps and tournaments. Mentoring Beyond Athletics prides itself on running a summer football camp, summer basketball and fall football tournaments. Also, coaching basketball and football teams for kids in both the White Bear Lake and North St. Paul/Maplewood areas.
On a day-to-day basis we are mentoring kids on how to become better individuals and teammates in life. Teaching, mentoring, coaching, and officiating are tools we use to help better young students. Building confidence through sports is our innovative way to help maintain good: values, discipline, work ethic, and leadership.
