Winona's Story:
Winona was diagnosed with throat (oropharyngeal tonsil) cancer in early August. The first step was a tonsillectomy and now she is completing 7 grueling weeks of daily throat radiation to kill, stop or slow the growth of the cancer cells in her throat and neck area.
The throat radiation treatments are extremely challenging with severe side effects including fatigue, nausea, the inability to swallow/eat (feeding tube may be necessary), skin burns on neck/chest area, and excruciating throat pain which requires substantial pain medications. Due to the side effects Winona is experiencing, she is unable to work and is currently on medical leave through FMLA (Family Medial Leave Act).
The good news is that the prognosis is promising!
Winona is doing all she can to remain positive and is determined to come back better than ever!
How you can help:
This has taken a big toll emotionally, physically, and financially since Winona is the sole provider and parent. I am creating this campaign at the request of many kind friends, family, and coworkers who want to help Winona and Gavin. Please consider donating to assist Winona at your earliest convenience during this difficult time.
How funds will be used:
Donated funds will go towards essential expenses for caregivers, childcare, medical, household, transportation so Winona can focus on her health.
