Support UMHS’s Ty’meriah Stanton
On July 3 on her way home from practicing with the Upper Merion basketball team, 15-year old Ty'meriah Stanton was a passenger in a vehicle which was involved in a horrific accident in King of Prussia. Ty’meriah is strong and is fighting in ICU at Paoli Hospital where she is in an induced coma and on a respirator. She suffered extensive head injuries and endured a lengthy surgery to relieve the pressure on her brain and to repair numerous fractures in her face. Ty’meriah loves playing basketball for Upper Merion and is a “Certified Bucket Getter”...her tenacity and hard work on the court earned her All PAC second team honors as a Sophomore this past season. Off the court she is bright, intelligent, kind, and funny. She volunteers in her community, is a Distinguished Honor Roll student and was a member of Upper Merion High School student council. Her family has not left her side and can use our assistance with contributions for missed work, travel to and from the hospital, meals and unforeseen medical expenses.+ Read More
Ty’meriah continues to make progress and is home with her family from the hospital and rehab. She has several more surgeries scheduled in the near future including in September when doctors are hopeful that the swelling will have subsided enough to be able to replace the piece of skull which has now been built for her. To say her progress is miraculous is an understatement. Doctors told her Mom she would be in the hospital for months and most recently said that she would be in rehab for six weeks - she has exceeded all milestones. Her Mom continues to care for Ty’meriah around the clock and the current plan includes Ty’meriah not attending school for the majority, if not all, of her junior year. Her family continues to need support - please continue to donate and please share.
While Ty’meriah’s swelling continued to increase yesterday, the doctors are hopeful that the swelling has peaked and should start to subside. She was started on a new medication to reduce her overall swelling yesterday. To give her beautiful mind a chance to rest, the doctors have limited stimulation - Ty is having some alone peaceful time. Ty’meriah is a beautiful soul and she is tough - she will continue to fight to come back. Her Mom is looking forward to being able to communicate with her soon and continues to sit by her bedside around the clock. Please continue to support Ty’meriah - her family is so grateful for all of the support!
Ty’meriah continues to fight and remains sedated and on a respirator. She responded to her Mom earlier when the sedation was reduced a bit. She is being kept comfortable and peaceful while her brain is given a chance to heal and the swelling should reduce over the next few days. The family wishes to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support. It is really astounding. Thank you and please continue to support Ty’meriah’s journey back to her loved ones and ultimately back to the court.
