Support the Stanaland Family

On behalf of my dear friends, Ben and Denise Stanaland, I am launching this fundraiser because Ben, a police officer, needs life-saving surgery.  

For the last 13 years, Ben has served the Orlando Police Department.  Over the last four months, he recovered on light-duty from a work-related injury.  Unable to work extra-duty, this had a huge financial impact.  Just as soon as they regained their financial footing, Ben was unexpectedly hospitalized for four days with extreme abdominal pain. Diagnosed with pancreatitis, which doctors successfully treated, something more alarming was unexpectedly discovered. During a scan of his abdomen, doctors found a mass on Ben’s right kidney. The doctors determined this mass to most likely be renal cell carcinoma, a very aggressive form of cancer. The doctors believe the cancerous mass is completely encapsulated and can be surgically removed.  Following several consultations with area specialists, and by the grace of God, Ben was accepted by one of the country’s leading robotic surgeons specializing in the surgery required to remove the tumor while saving most of the kidney.  

On May 23, 2019, Ben will undergo surgery in St. Louis, Missouri.  Afterwards, he and Denise will remain in St. Louis for approximately one week to ensure Ben can safely travel home to Florida. The added stress of travel expenses combined with time out of work to recover places greater anxiety and financial burden on this family.  It’s expected Ben will be out of work for approximately two months, which means he will not be able to work his regular patrol shifts and any extra duty jobs he depends on to support his family. 

Ben and Denise have been married 18 years, and they and have three beautiful daughters, Abigail (12), Samantha (10), and Bethany (8).  Believing anything can be done through and with Christ, Ben and his girls ask you to lift him up in prayer for complete healing.  Your spiritual support is so important.  During this scary and challenging time, if you feel led to do more to support this wonderful family, please know any donation would be greatly appreciated.  We will keep you posted along the way with Ben’s progress.  Thank you very much, and may God Bless you.
