Maurice experienced a severe work-place injury and the family now faces eviction while they await progress in his legal proceedings for workers compensation. This is a uniquely vibrant family who continuously contribute to others in need. Lets show them how our community can do the same.
Olga and Maurice are devoted and loving parents to their five incredible children, ages 2-18.
Maurice has dedicated himself to the same employer for nearly a decade while also developing his own music production company in his spare time.
Olga is a beacon of joy, foundation and guidance for her entire family. She runs her own catering company- her empanadas are magical- check out her menu!
Emaurie is a recent graduate from Niles North where she excelled in math and science. She is passionate about being a voice for those who do not have one. Her smile is contagious and her voice is undeniably destined to be heard. Be sure to listen to the video down below of her blowing away a packed theater at the DuSable Museum of African American History on Martin Luther King Day this year.
Maurice Jr. is a 7th grader at Old Orchard Junior High School. He excels in science and is a hands-on child who loves inventing and creating. He designs his own jewelry and is a basketball powerhouse!
Zahmeil, twin brother to Zayjona, is a sixth grader at Old Orchard Junior High. His favorite subject is reading and he is known amongst his teachers to be a natural leader. Teachers say that Zahmeil encourages everyone around him to be respectful. He is a consistent helping-hand to everyone in need. He also tears it up on the basketball court!

Zayjona, twin sister to Zahmeil, is a 6th grader at Old Orchard Junior High. She is a very loving, kind-hearted child who excels at reading. She is a voice for children who are bullied, and has taken up the torch to fight in-school bullying through empowering others to use their voices. She helps special-needs students at her school to get from room to room.

Baby Sister Naya is a very adventurous little girl and is smart beyond her years. She is a major Elmo fan and loves singing just like her big sister Emaurie. She looks up to her older siblings and never fails to make the family laugh and smile.
I've set a goal of $5,000.00 to help the Pelts avoid displacement and shelters. This goal will provide them with enough money for first and last month's rent and security deposit in a new apartment, basic daily needs, and payment for the legal fees associated with their eviction and Maurice's workplace injury.
Your contribution not only means a lot to this family, but it means a lot to me.
The Pelts are my friends and I love them. I had the pleasure of directing Emaurie in Martin Rising, where she graciously contributed her talent and her singing voice in the role of Martin Luther King, Jr. Due to her family's financial strain, she is foregoing her secondary education right now. She will undoubtedly succeed on whatever path she pursues, but I want to see her have the chance that every bright, talented and driven high school graduate deserves- to start her new chapter with confidence and excitement for what is to come, not anxiety for the safety and security of her family. Please consider helping me give her that gift.
