Support The Lawlor Family

The outpouring of support for our family has been overwhelming in such a positive way.   Emily’s senseless murder has shaken us all to the core.   Jenn & Tommy’s closest friends spending endless hours offering comfort have helped make each day bearable for them to the best of their ability.    Family friends from near and far, educators, community leaders, law enforcement officers, Em’s childhood and current friends have all rallied around us and have helped in so many ways.   Local businesses have been so supportive and we are so grateful to them all for taking care of the celebration service reception a couple weeks ago.    This is who Bethel is.  It’s the community that we were raised in and the community that we so proudly call our home.

The emotional scars are deep and in many ways, will never heal.    Each time new information becomes available, it opens the wounds for all of us.   We are currently entering a new phase which is ensuring that this monster pays for taking Emily from us.   The collective hard work of the local and out of state detective bureaus resulted in an arrest that will guarantee that this soulless human being will never hurt anyone ever again.    Jenn has shown us what the true definition of courage is.   Courage is having the ability to reach deep into your inner self and find the strength to get through the day under the worst possible circumstances. 

Above and beyond the emotional pain, there has already been and there will continue to be financial hardships for Jenn and Tommy as they navigate these uncharted waters.   Jenn was well on her way to building a successful private practice as a child therapist dedicating herself to helping others through lifes challenges.   Given the current circumstances, she will need to focus 100% on herself, Tommy and their 8 year old son.   Tommy has not worked since the day we received the tragic news 3 weeks ago and will be taking whatever additional time he needs as his family’s emotional well being is currently his top priority.  Time has come to a screeching halt for Jenn and Tommy but unfortunately, the financial obligations of their daily lives have not.    They are no different than most of us in that losing 100% of their income for an indefinite period will have serious financial consequences going forward.

With that said as a family, and with Jenn and Tommy’s reluctant blessing, we have established this GoFundMe to assist them with the expenses of day to day life as they continue to grieve the loss of Emily.   It is extremely unfair that on top of losing Emily in the most tragic of circumstances, that financial pressures are already starting to mount as we speak.   One example of an unforseen financial consequence of this tragedy is that the car that Emily was driving was 1 year into a 3 year lease.  While we are going to make a heartfelt plea to the leasing company, it is highly likely that the remaining 2 years will have to be paid in full in order to satisfy the contract.   The list goes on and on and therefore we are hoping that you will consider making a contribution to this fund and/or share it to friends and family on our behalf. 

In closing, I can assure you all that as we progress through the grieving process, our family will collectively band together and find ways to make this world a better and safer place for us all.    My sister, when she sets her sight on a cause, will move mountains to honor Emily’s memory.    We will not allow Emily’s death to be in vain.
