Background
In sports, there are few things more exciting than representing your country in international competition and last June, with the help of some generous corporate and individual donations, a small but determined youth beach soccer team named SoCal Legacy, from Oceanside, California, had the honor of being the only team to represent the United States of America in the first annual Madjer Euro Americas Youth Beach Soccer Cup. Legacy (106-11-5), arguably one of of the best youth teams in the nation, was one of sixteen teams representing six different countries at the first inaugural competition named after the world renowned beach soccer player, Madjer Saraiva, who plays for the Portuguese National Team and Sporting Lisbon and who is the premiere ambassador of the sport.
In an uncertain time, when the US Men’s National Soccer Team failed to qualify for the World Cup, SoCal Legacy faced off against teams from Spain, Portugal, the UK, Italy and El Salvador, and sparked new hope for the future of beach soccer in the USA by achieving a bronze medal finish in the U18 division. At one point they were the favored team to win it all after tying El Salvador, the team that ultimately took home the gold, in a pre-tournament friendly. The young Americans obviously learned a lot from this experience, as it was their first international contest and are determined to train even harder and blend the tactics and strategies they learned during this event into their lightning fast transitional style of play, which will bring them to a completely new performance level in the sport.

The players did a fantastic job representing the USA during Madjer Cup 2018 through their conduct and behavior, both on and off the pitch, as they made many lifelong friends and always played with the highest level of sportsmanship possible, even under extreme circumstances. These players have been competing in beach soccer tournaments for 6 years, have garnered 21 championships, including the most prestigious North American Sand Soccer Championship U16 Title in 2017, in addition to two consecutive Major Beach Soccer (MBS) National Championships for both U14 and U16 divisions in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Although they are all exceptionally talented individual players, the chemistry that has been developed from the 122 matches they have played is what really sets this team apart from all others. Dedication, determination and a work ethic that pushes the team to new performance levels each year are fueled by their love of the sport and natural competitive instinct. They truly are a well seasoned sports team that can absolutely take the gold in Madjer Cup 2019.
The team also has a phenomenal working relationship with Nick Perera, Captain of the US Men's National Beach Soccer Team. So in addition to their normal training sessions from Coach Steve, Nick has provided advanced, professional player level insight and training during numerous, multi-hour, private sessions with the team since 2015. This has accelerated their immense growth and maturity in the sport, which contributed to their championship victories at the National and North American level.

This is where you can make a difference, not just for these players and this team, but for the representation of your country at this highly visible and growing competition (matches are streamed live over the Internet and more countries like Russia, the Netherlands, Germany and France are expected to attend next June). The USA needs to be represented on the world's stage, and there is no team that has a better shot at bringing home the U18 division gold from Madjer Cup 2019 than SoCal Legacy.
Our overall fundraising target is $12K which will be used to help pay for airfare, lodging, ground transportation, and meals. We will be organizing several local fundraising events, but also need significant GoFundMe donations from individuals and businesses to help us meet this aggressive target. Offline donations, free from payment processing fees, are also gladly accepted.

The team is part of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so you can make a tax-deductible donation through this campaign or by mailing a check or money order made out to “SoCal Legacy BFC” to the following address:
